Our Customers Make our Day!
In our obsession with making everything special, there’s practically a different celebration for a variety of reasons every day of the year! Today is no exception: Oct 19th is “Get To Know Your Customer” day! When I reflect on our customers here at Tribal Mountain, I am reminded of the many great conversations we have had with the many interesting and diverse folks who cross the threshold of our store on a daily basis. From the ‘wandering Gandalf’ who was an ambassador of our downtown location for years and who always had an adventurous story to share, to the countless musicians, body workers, style seekers and appreciators of all things beautiful, many of the people we call customers, we also call friends. One of the reasons why I chose to work at Tribal Mountain back in 2013 was because of how peaceful I felt browsing through the seemingly infinite number of unique items from around the world. And many of our customers tell us that they enjoy visiting our shop for similar reasons. I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve been told that there is an energy of serenity in our store that is palpable the moment one crosses the threshold…even in the busyness of a mall! Some of our customers have been visiting Tribal Mountain Trade for as long as the store has been in existence! Now that’s loyalty…especially since even though it was downtown for the majority of the 35-40 years we’ve been in business after closing the ‘Mothership’ store in August of 2016, many of our ‘downtown’ customers still make the journey out to us at White Oaks Mall. Our customers also tell us that they love the personal service they get from our staff. Folks who come in looking for an item we traditionally sell but may not currently have in stock are always pleased to hear that we are more than happy to take their contact information and look into special-ordering the item for them. Sometimes, the exchange is not monetary but, rather, an exchange of heart-felt stories and information. It harkens back to a time when shop owners were local folks who knew most, if not all, of their customers. Most of our regular customers are aware that Candy and Les, the co-owners of Tribal Mountain, are just that…local folks who know many of their customers by name. If I were to describe our customers/friends, I would tell you they are intelligent, open-hearted, eager to experience new things, trust-worthy and loyal…real gems! We feel truly blessed that these folks privilege us with their presence on a daily basis. And in appreciation for bringing such great energy into our lives here at Tribal Mountain, we’d like to invite you to visit the store today, Oct 19th or tomorrow, Oct 20th – if you mention you’ve read this blog, you’ll get a little something special to brighten up your day! Happy Customers Day! Thank you for your loyalty, friendship and continued support!
